
$245 million: the estimated gross revenue for the Super Bowl XLVI set to air on NBC on February 5th. At an average rate of 3.5 million per ad, this year marks the highest-grossing advertising event in history. With over 100 million viewers expected to tune into this years broadcast and with the game streaming online for the first time in history, there is guaranteed to be a lot of eyeballs watching the commercials. With that said, what should we expect to see this year in the way of brilliant advertising? The expectations are great and we are excited.
This year, many of the usual suspects will be previewing their latest creative masterpieces. Chevy, Anheuser-Busch, Doritos, and Volkswagen are all staples of the Super Bowl advertising elite. This year, however, there is a new player to the mix. Dannon will premier the first yogurt commercial to ever air during the illustrious event and challenge viewers to consider an alternate treat to the standard Doritos, Pepsi and Coke. It will be interesting to see how the commercials compare. With that in mind, I’ve been inspired to create a competitive bracket pitting the major advertisers against each other to declare the best Super Bowl advertiser!
